AT80 A project with the De La Warr Pavilion

At 80 is a collaborative project between the De La Warr Pavilion, students from the University of Brighton's Hastings Campus and the local community, with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund

The brief was to create a body of work that expresses an alternative people's history of the pavilion as part of the celebrations of the 80th year since it was built.
Recordings of stories, photographs and objects were gathered from the community surrounding the pavilion to be used as content for the project outcomes.
The students were asked to illustrate and embellish these stories and events through a variety of approaches to give new life and an alternative voice to the heritage of the building.
Creative workshops were held by local artists Martin O'Neill and Griff. The project was devised and taught by Ashley McCormick, Head of Learning and Participation at the De La Warr Pavilion alongside Paul Burgess, Vanessa Marr and Louise Colbourne of the University of Brighton.
The work will be shown at the De La Warr Pavilion as part of the The Peoples History exhibition in June 2016
